Apple Music introduces Selfie Sing: karaoke videos with iOS 27.3
Selfie Sing on Apple Music lets you record karaoke videos with iOS 27.3 beta, edit your voice, and share your performances.
With iOS 27.3 beta,AppleMusic introduces Selfie Sing, a function that allows you to record a video with the front camera while singing along to the lyrics of a song. The new feature adds a video component to the karaoke already present in the service: after recording you can adjust the voice, apply effects and save or share the result. The function was described by MacRumors and shown in a video published by Aaron, but for now it cannot be used with all the songs in the catalog.
How Selfie Sing works on Apple Music
The starting point is a playlist dedicated to Selfie Sing. After choosing a song from those enabled, tap the camera icon to open selfie shooting. The red button starts recording and, while playing, the words of the song scroll on the screen. In this way the video captures the person singing and retains the reference to the lyrics, without requiring you to switch to a separate application.
The recording does not necessarily end with the end of the performance: at the end of the piece, tools are available to intervene on the audio. You can change the volume of your voice or apply one of the provided effects. The resulting video can be saved to the iPhone Photos library or shared with other people.
The vocal effects and songs available
The options shown include Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall and Studio. There are four voice treatments that allow you to give a different character to the recording after singing. The ability to adjust the vocal volume offers further control over the result, without the need to immediately repeat the shot.
The dedicated playlist features well-known songs such as “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, “Like a Virgin” by Madonna, “Wonderwall” by Oasis, “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran and “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears. However, not every Apple Music song allows you to record a Selfie Sing: availability is currently limited to enabled content. A possible extension to other songs is not confirmed.

Selfie Sing on Apple Music: differences between iOS 27.2 and 27.3
The distinction between iOS versions is important. The Selfie Sing playlist also appears on iPhones with iOS 27.2, but the ability to activate the front camera to record is only present on devices with the iOS 27.3 beta. Seeing the playlist, therefore, does not mean you already have access to the new video function.
Selfie Sing appears to expand Apple Music Sing, the karaoke mode introduced with iOS 16.2. While the latter allows you to sing accompanied by lyrics, the new experience adds shooting with the camera and subsequent vocal changes. The demonstration film mentioned in the article byMacRumorsshows how the novelty works; The use of Animoji in the video is a choice of the demo author and not a feature available in Selfie Sing.
The available information does not specify when the function will exit beta or whether the number of compatible songs will increase. For the moment, the concrete requirement to try selfie recording is iOS 27.3 beta, while on iOS 27.2 only the playlist remains visible.
